Why Compost

Composting can seem like such a hassle, so why would you do it? There are multiple reasons to compost according to the EPA.

  1. Composting creates healthier soil. Composting creates nutrient rich soil that can be used for gardening or just to help the Earth in general.
  2. Reduces your food waste. Composting reduces how much food you throw away which reduces the amount of food you send to landfill.
  3. Alleviates the need for chemicals in the garden. Because this soil is very nutrient dense, there is very little need to artificially add these nutrients back into the soil. This reduces the possibility of damaging affects such as runoff.
  4. Lowers your carbon footprint. Because you are not throwing away as much food, your lowering how much gas emissions you create through throwing away your food.
